Frans was from Sweden and naturalised in Wellington in 1864. He married Elizabeth Carmont (1840?-1930), her burial not yet found. Her parents were from Scotland and are buried in Mount Street, Wellington

His son was Frank Gustave Magnusson (1861-1936), Town Clerk of Dannevirke in 1903, who is buried in Clareville, Carterton
