A funeral Mass was said yesterday in St. Mary's Church, Dedham, for Edward F. Devine, 80, a retired long-time employee of the Shawmut National Bank of Boston. He was a resident of Doggett circle, Dedham, and died Monday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, West Roxbury, after a brief illness.
Mr. Devine was born in Dorchester and attended public schools there. He served in the Army in World War I.
He was on the staff of the Shawmut for more than 30 years. When he retired 15 years ago, he held the title of superintendent of vaults.
Mr. Devine leaves a daughter, Dorothy H. O'Neil of Dedham; a sister, Grace Sheehan of Hollywood, Fla., and one great-grandchild.
Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
