John D. Ballard, father of City Judge Frank W. Ballard of Batavia and brother of the late M. P. Ballard of Rushford, died at his son's house last week Wednesday of pneumonia. He was 96 years old.
Mr. Ballard was born in Odgen on September 4, 1826. His parents came to western New York a few years before from Vermont. About 1840 the family moved from Odgen to Centerville where Mr. Ballard married Miss Cynthia Bingham. He served as Supervisior and as Justice of the Peace of Centerville. In 1885 they moved to Batavia and in 1905 Mrs. Ballard died. Besides his son Judge Ballard leaves a son, Elbert F. of Cenetervillle.
