Abelardo “Lalo” Leon Almanza, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children at home on Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was born October 22, 1949 in La Canada de Cortazar, Guanajuato, Mexico.

Lalo was an avid baseball fan all his life. In his younger years he enjoyed attending games with friends as well as taking his children to them as well. Lalo also enjoyed taking frequent trips to the local casinos. Lalo was a devoted husband to his wife of 43 years. He was an admirable father to his four children and a wonderful grandfather to his six grandchildren. Lalo showed great courage in his battle with cancer. He will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Leon and his mother, Carmen Almanza.

He is survived by his wife Juana Moreno Leon; sons Carlos Leon and Eduardo (Dawn) Leon of Salinas; daughters Marina (Francisco) Sandoval of Chowchilla and Patricia (Freddie) Martinez of Salinas; grandchildren Joel, Giselle Angelie and Estrella Roslynn Zaragoza; Damian Alfredo and Alyssa Victoria Martinez; Kaleb Abelardo Leon; brothers Ausencio (Ana) Leon of Tracy and Adolfo (Maria) Leon of Union City as well as numerous other family members.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 1-9 pm with a Rosary vigil at 6 pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd Salinas, CA 93905.

Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2018 10 am at Christ our King Church 240 Calle Cebu Salinas CA 93901

Burial to follow services at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery 18200 Damian Way Salinas CA 93907
