Larry Gene Aanderud was born on April 20, 1943 to Lloyd & Vivian Aanderud in Jamestown, North Dakota. Larry passed away in Ridgecrest, California on June 24, 2018.

TMC Larry "Double A" Aanderud USN (Ret.) EOD took his final dive 24 June 2018.

Born on 20 April 1943 in Jamestown ND, he spent his summers being a Lifeguard, where he developed his love for the water. He joined the US Navy in 13 Sept 1961 as a Torpedoman's Mate, but realized early on that he wanted to spend more time in the water. In April 1966 he joined Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). With almost 22 years of service, and multiple tours in Vietnam, Double A was highly decorated.

He was awarded 4 Navy Good Conduct Awards, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V", Silver Star Medal, 3 Navy Unit Commendations, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver and 3 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with "1960" Device, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Master EOD Badge, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

He retired as a TMC 31 October 1982, with the distinction of Master Blaster. His career continued at Pt. Mugu as a Quality Assurance Specialist with the Department of Defense.

He married his true love Margaret "Peggy" (His Bootiful) 12 April 1969, and recently celebrated their 49th anniversary. He was a loving Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, and Brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Vivian Aanderud, his two sisters Janet Berg and Debbie Aanderud and son Tracey Bignault.

He is survived by his wife Peggy, his brothers Richie Aanderud , Robert Aanderud and Kim Aanderud and their families. His daughter Pamela and husband Jimmy Brantley, sons Howard (Skip) Bignault, Craig Bignault Sr. and Lori, and daughter Paula McKay and husband Richard Freeman. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ryan Brantley and wife Stephanie and their children Sedona, Logan, Wyatt and Lincoln, Matthew Brantley and wife Becca and their children Layla and Ryder, Bryan Bignault and his children MacKenzie and Zariah, Elizabeth Nesmith and her children Christopher and Madeline, Jessica Nesmith and her child Greyson, Kayla Russell and husband Dustin and their children Dillon and Cameron, Brian Waters, Ashley Bignault, Craig "CJ" Bignault Jr. and his son Christian, Tanner Bignault, James Bignault, Jacob Guynn and wife Kelsie and their child Rose.

He will be buried at the Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin, CA on July 6 at 10:45 a.m.
