Geraldine Louise "Gerry" Smith, 80

EAST LIVERPOOL — Geraldine Louise "Gerry" Smith, 80, of Riverview Street, East Liverpool, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Nentwick Convalescent Center. She was the daughter of the late William and Maude (Shamp) Lee, born in East Liverpool, on Sept. 10, 1926.

Living her entire life in the area, Mrs. Smith retired in 1982 from the Homer Laughlin China Company, where she was a supervisor. She received her GED on March 5, 1984, which she was very proud of. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening, helping her friends and most of all spending time with her family. Mrs. Smith belonged to the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, Potters Pride Plus Club, Restore the Clock Capitol Gift Campaign and the U.S. Potters Association International. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Disciples Church.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Robert Davidson Smith, whom she married Nov. 19, 1941; a son: Robert Dean Smith of East Liverpool; a daughter: Vicki Lee Miller of Pinellas Park, Fla.; five grandchildren: Michelle A. Ash, Michael A. Timmons, Marcus A. Timmons, Amy Lyn Fike and Bobbie Jo Tanner; seven great-grandchildren: Christi M. Timmons, Michael M. Timmons, William J. Timmons, Austin Fike, Steven Reed, Laney Fike, Tyler Tanner and Marcus Logan Lee Timmons.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: William C. Lee and Charles Lee; three half-sisters, Lena Owens, Robina Owens and Ellen Owens; and a daughter-in-law: Billie Smith

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, April 9, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Sturm, officiating.

Burial will follow in United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Sunday, April 8, 2007, from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m.
