A Sad Death
On Sunday morning Edith Guliford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Guliford, departed this life, after a three week’s illness of typhoid fever. The death was quite unexpected, although she was very critical during the last few days of her sickness. She was a bright girl of about fifteen years of age, and of a most loving disposition, making many friends wherever she went. At six o’clock Sunday morning her mother cared for her in her tender and loving way, telling her how she needed her and hoped that she would soon be well. To this Edith replied, “I hoped I will soon be up.” Her mother then left her to attend to other duties, returning soon to find that Edith’s spirit had taken its flight to realms of bliss, where sickness and sorrow can not enter. It was a very sad blow to the parents, who have the profound sympathy of the people of Red Cloud in their great hour of affliction. The funeral occurred at four the same day, from the house, the Rev. J.K. Maxfield officiating. A very large procession followed her remains to their last resting place, the parents being unable to go on account of physical inability. It was a very sad death and one that was to be deplored owing to the tender years of the deceased.
