James William Sullivan, 75, died on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at his home in Hazel Green, AL. He was born on October 31, 1942 to John Junior and Cora Lee Herndon Sullivan. During the Vietnam Era, he served in the U.S. Air Force and prior to his retirement, he worked in maintenance for Lane Furniture in Tupelo. Jimmy was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ in Hazel Green, AL. He also attended the Christian Chapel Church of Christ, and previously served as a deacon for over 25 years at the Amory Church of Christ. He was a member of the American Legion in Amory and was active in the Sons of Cofederate Veterans. Jimmy was known for having a giving heart and he was always trying to find a way to help others. Having a love for gospel singing, he frequently attended the singing in Diana, Tennessee. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Ministers James Wyers and Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in the Amory Historical Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, of Hazel Green, AL; one daughter, his son, his seven step children, one brother, one sister, 4 grandchildren, 3 step children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Harris Sullivan; his second wife, Judy Tucker Sullivan; and a stepdaughter, Melissa Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommie Smith, Bill Steverson, Randy Gray, David Gray, Jerry Cooper, Matt Lee, and Ronald Luker. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
