Charles Brandon Cayce was born on December 25, 1875 in Franklin, Tennessee, the son of James Ambrose Cayce Sr (1850–1914) and Amelia Bethenia Winn (Higgins) Cayce (1846–1926).

he was married to Emma Dorris (1881–1967), the daughter of Alexander "Osceola" Dorris (1838–1891) and Annie Elizabeth "Eliza" (Tucker) Dorris (1844–1920).

A jeweler for B H Steif Company and living at 245 Lauderdale Road in Nashville, he was 68 years old and married when he had an operation for a strangulated hernia at Saint Thomas Hospital, where he had been for seven days: He died at the hospital on October 19, 1944 of acute bronchitis and heart failure. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
