Retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran and self-employed small business owner Richard Dean Duff, 75, of Springville died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center.
His body was cremated.
No service or visitation is planned. Ridgeway Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Born June 30, 1938, in Nampa, Idaho, he was a son of the late Thomas Charles Fay Duff and the late Shirley Mae Nicodemus Shavr.
Duff retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after more than 20 years. He received the Pistol Expert and Rifle Expert badges; the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry; Vietnam Service Medal; and Meritorious Unit Commendation. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veteran, AMVETS and Military Officers Association of America. A family member said he enjoyed woodworking.
He leaves two daughters: Ashley (Jason) Langley of Buchanan and Tami (Brian) Bent of California; two sons: Rod Duff of Chicago and Richie (Brandi) Kretzschmar of Springville; two sisters: Sharon Ray of Oregon and Shirley Faye Sforza of California; one brother: Tom Duff of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Sherril and Ronald Jean Duff, also preceded him in death.
