ABINGDON -- Marie Miller Courson, 89, formerly of Abingdon, died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

Born Oct. 31, 1908, in Maquon Township, Knox County, to Manessah and Hattie Hodge Thurman, she married Carl E. Miller on Jan. 18, 1930, in Galesburg. He died Sept. 16, 1975. She later married Gailen C. Courson on March 21, 1980, in Abingdon. He died Jan. 15, 1992. She also was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Surviving are one sister, Lilah West of Galesburg; and nieces and nephews.

She was a bookkeeper for Wood's Basket Grocery and Grossman Ready to Wear. She also worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing Co. She and her ×rst husband farmed near Abingdon for 32 years.

She was a graduate of Brown's Business College in Galesburg. She was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church and its Esther Circle.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. George Terry will of×ciate.

Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church.
