BEVERLY: Beatrice M. (Lemieux) Gates, 77, wife of the late John P. Gates, died Wednesday, November 10 at Beverly Hospital. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Thomas) Lemieux. She lived in Beverly most of her life. Beatrice was formerly employed at the Forbes Estate in Manchester by-the-Sea and the Church Estate in Prides Crossing, where she assisted and organized many functions. She developed a love for painting when she took classes with her granddaughter, Aleah, at the Wenham Council of Aging. Most importantly she loved her family and spent time as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving her are two sons, Scott E. Gates and his wife, Joya of Beverly, Mark W. Gates and his longtime companion, Paula of Beverly; three grandchildren, Aleah R. Gates, Justin B. Gates, and Sarah J. Gates, all of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews. Her son, John P. Gates, died unexpectedly on November 5, of an apparent heart attack in Florida. Her husband, John, died in 1997.
