Natrona Heights
Paul H. Behning, 92, of Natrona Heights, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, in the Alle Kiski Medical Center, Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Born Aug. 2, 1913, in Saxonburg, he was the son of the late Frederick and Verdie Bergman Behning. A World War II Navy veteran, he retired in 1975 as a heater helper for Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Brackenridge. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a life member of VFW Post 894, both in Natrona Heights. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed hunting and all sports and played minor-league baseball in the Pirates organization. He is survived by daughter, Lynette Smith, of Natrona Heights; granddaughter, Heidi Lyne (Ross) Grimm; and great-grandson, Ross Ethan Grimm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bittinger Behning; brother, Floyd Behning; and sisters, Helen Mills and Edna Lawhead.
Graveside services were Friday in Mt. Airy Cemetery officiated by his pastor, the Rev. Rich Nulph. Full military honors were accorded by VFW Post 894. Arrangements by the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME, Natrona Heights.
