Audrey Fern Stancer was born September 17, 1912 at Churdan, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Myrtle (Smith) Rousch. In 1914, the family moved to make their home in Renville County, where Audrey grew up. She graduated from Morton High School in 1931 and continued her education in Redwood Falls where she took normal training to receive her teaching certificate. Audrey then taught in Renville County.
On April 12, 1936, Audrey married Jerome "Buster" Stancer at her family's farm home north of Morton. Together, they farmed in Redwood and Honner townships until retiring in the 1980s. Buster died on April 27, 1988 and Audrey remained on the farm until moving into Redwood Falls in the early 1990s.
Audrey was a member of First United Methodist Church of Redwood Falls where she belonged to U.M.W. She loved family gatherings and her grandchildren. While still on the farm, Audrey belonged to card club and birthday club. She took special care of her flowers and garden and did a lot of canning as well as baking. Audrey was the family champion Scrabble player.
She is survived by her children Marvella Ann Haas of Redwood Falls, and Ronald Carl Stancer and wife Linda of Hastings; grandchildren Scott (Dana), Gregg (Becky), Todd (Jennifer) Haas, Terri Stage, Chris (Julie), Mike and Jennifer Stancer, Carolyn and Eric Disch; great-grandchildren Duane, Rachel, Alex and Sierra Stancer, Kasey and Emma Disch, Katie and Lindsey Stage, Haylee, Hanna and Zach Haas, and Chuck and Jeff Elton. Also surviving are sisters Erma Pratt and her husband Les of Redwood Falls, and Althea Freitag and husband Ervin of Danube. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerome "Buster" in 1988; a grandson David at age 21; brothers Glenn, Roy and Marvin; and sisters Hazel and Eula.
