Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Dr. Lisa M Breitenbach, a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, who practices psychiatry in the North Country and her son-in-law, Mr. Daniel Kempf, a native of Bern, Switzerland. Beatrice was instrumental in bringing about their wedding by enthusiastically welcoming Daniel into her home and her life.
Beatrice was born on September 28, 1924, in Rutland VT. She grew up in New York City, in a large and loving Italian household. She was the eldest of six children. Her brothers have preceded her in death and she is survived by her sister, Carol Sperandeo, of Ft. Salonga NY
When Beatrice remarried, she also received the love of Duncan’s sons, John, Matt and Peter, and their families.
She was a summer resident of Heuvelton, and regardless of all the places she visited, she looked forward to returning there with profound excitement. She found that life in the village gave her a sense of both independence, as she enjoyed her daily walks; and a sense of belonging, as she got to know her neighbors and other members of St. Raphael’s parish, where she was a communicant.
At age 93, she died in peace at her home in Charlotte, NC after a brief illness. A funeral Mass will be held at St Raphael’s parish in Heuvelton, NY on June 29th, 2018 at 10:00. She will be buried on 13 July 2018 at the Military Academy at West Point, NY alongside her first husband.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St Raphael’s Church, Heuvelton NY.
