Bruce L. Dalton, 84, of Salina, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018.

He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Abilene, to Richmond A. and Josephine A. (Bublies) Dalton.

Bruce was a very kind, brilliant and loving man. He married his wife, Kitty, in August of 1960. They welcomed their three children Jodi, Blake and Andy into their lives during the first seven years of marriage. During the course of their marriage they loved and cared for each other and have enjoyed their nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

When he first started his career he was the first engineer at Westinghouse and ended his career as the engineering manager at Philips where he was very respected by his peers. After his many years of working he devoted the first 10 years of retirement to the children of Nedra Elbl’s classroom. After helping his oldest granddaughter Brooke conquer her challenges with reading and math he realized he could make a difference in many children’s lives. His dedication lead to winning the Volunteer of the Year for USD 305. In his spare time he enjoyed building remote controlled airplanes and helicopters. Bruce would always call Kitty when he was coming home unless he wrecked. He would come home mumbling to himself in disappointment and head to the basement to figure out what happened.

He is survived by: his wife, Kitty; daughter, Jodi Brown and husband Craig, granddaughter, Hanna Frazier, spouse Jett Vilardell, and children, Jett and Jayden Vilardell of Salina, granddaughter, Brooke Lemon and husband Andrew Lemon of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; sons, Blake Dalton and his three children, Cole, Anderson, and Charlotte, of Marshfield, Mass., and Andy Dalton, wife Stephanie, and their four children Joseph, Jacob, Leah Kate, and Josh, of Mandeville, La.

Bruce was preceded in death by: his two brothers, Chris Dalton and Richmond A. Dalton.

Cremation was chosen. Visitation without the body present will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Enterprise. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E. Neal, Salina, with Rev. Barry Dundas officiating.
