Hansma, David Peter, 84, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Concordia Village of Tampa, FL. David was born to Joel Walter and Ethel Louisa (nee Kocher) Hansma on December 23, 1933, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was a career pilot in the US Air Force, retiring with the rank of Major and becoming a local businessman/entrepreneur. He was preceded in death by his first wife; Joyce (nee King, mother of his children ( deceased 1963) and his second wife, Maureen (nee Caples, longtime Principal of St. Lawrence Catholic School (deceased 2016); parents; a brother, Frank; and sister, Dona. He is survived by his son, Peter (Donna) of Wendell, NC; his daughters, Jerri (Jeff) Heer of Tampa, and Alison of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Joel (Gladys) of Corona, CA; four nieces, three nephews; five grandsons, one granddaughter, one great- grandson, with one pending. Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, from 6-8 pm at Boza and Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave. A Funeral Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, June 22, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Tampa, FL, followed by interment at 1:30 pm at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave and Maureen's memory to the Maureen Hansma St. Lawrence Scholarship Fund C/O Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. Boza Roel FH
