Mrs. Ruby Bransford Pearce, veteran educator, member of two families which were among the first settlers of this area of the South, died at her North Vienna home here last Thursday morning at 7:15 o'clock after an illness extending back to 1950.

She was the wife of W. Floyd Pearce, Ruston insurance executive.

Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Darby Funeral Home here at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Dr. Guy M. Hicks, superintendent of the Ruston District of the Methodist Church officiated and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Bransford, Mrs. Pearce was born at the family home at D'Arbonne Post Office in Union Parish, in the area to which her grandfather came as one of the first settlers. She attended school in Union Parish, and in Ruston having moved here with her family around the turn of the century.

She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree, and entered the teaching profession. She remained at Louisiana Tech where she served as teacher of business administration and registrar for 36 years, retiring about eight years ago.

Mrs. Pearce's mother was a member of the McCormick family which came to this area in the very early days, and her father was one of the first undertakers in Lincoln Parish.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, are two brothers, J. G. Bransford of Houston, Texas, and F. M. Bransford of Alexandria.

Pallbearers will be Harry Rainwater, R. S. Richardson, E. H. Powell, Howard Smith, Jack Mashaw and Bob Seegers.
