George Wesley (Ches) Williams, age 84, passed away February 28, 2004 in Nephi, Utah.
He was born May 19, 1919 in Nephi, Utah to Edward Henry and Mildred Shettle Williams. He married Margaret Tolley, March 14, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple.
He served in the Armed Forces from Sept 1941 to Sept 1945, serving in the South Pacific. He operated Garrett Service and was employed by Pexton Wholesale, Parkin Motor, Painter Motor and was co-owner of Greenwood-Williams Chevrolet. He served for many years on the City Council and was officer and committee member of the Ute Stampede Association for many years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions.
Survived by his wife, Margaret, of Nephi; four daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) Peterson, of West Jordan; Marian (Bryce) Lynn, of Mona; Gayle (Calvin) Wright, of Nephi; Barbara (Dennis) Jensen, of Salem; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert R. Williams, of Orem; Morgan Williams, of San Diego, CA; sister, Norda Rosenlof, of Mt. Pleasant. Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, LaMar, Darwin, and Jude; a son-in-law, Dell Stewart; two grandchildren, Lynette Lynn and Chase Wright.
