James Trigg Adams was the oldest of three sons born to Alonzo Morrison Adams and Eva Belle Nay

His first marriage was to Margaret Josephine Sanders. They had three children; James Trigg Adams Jr, Harland Morrison Adams and Frances Josephine Adams.

James' second marriage was to Hattie Lorraine Sapp

He was the co-founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) with his first wife's father, Col. Harland David Sanders. The fast food chain started on March 20, 1930 in North Corbin, KY and has over 20,000 locations in the United States.

James was a lifelong member of the Kiwanis Club in Delray Beach, FL. He was also a Mason for 65 years, a Shriner member for 25 years and a member of the Scottish Rite.
