Survivors: wife, Mary; son, John D., and grandson, Justin, Salt Lake City; sisters, Mrs. Eva Ward, Miss Laverne Carbine, both Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Evelyn Dempsey, Medford, Oregon; brothers, Leland, Melvin, both Salt Lake City.
Funeral Friday, 11 a.m., Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call Thursday, 6-8 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Merle A. Carbine, 60, of 4020 Denniston Court, Bettendorf, died Tuesday at Moline Lutheran Hospital.
The body will be taken from McGinnis Funeral Home, Bettendorf, to Larkin Mortuary, Salt Lake City, Utah, for services and burial.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Assn.
Mr. Carbine was employed as a certified public accountant with the U.S. Army Audit Agency for 21 years, retiring in February.
He was born in La Grande, Ore. He married Mary Fuller in 1939 in Salt Lake City.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John D., Salt Lake City; one grandson; sisters, Mrs. Eva Ward and Miss LaVern Carbine, both of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Evelyn Dempsey, Medford Ore., and brothers, Leland and Melvin, both of Salt Lake City.
