Gerald Bernard Thoresen, 94, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, in St. Luke's hospital hospice. He was born March 16, 1907, in Duluth to Jacob and Christine (Hunstad) Thoresen.

He worked for Standard Oil Co., starting as an office boy and retiring from the construction and maintenance department in 1972, after 50 years of service.

Gerald was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Duluth, AARP and PUG Club. He was past member of Local 346 and Moose Lake Moose Lodge 4787.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; his brother, Ed; and his first wife, Lyell M. (Rasmussen) in 1959.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 41 years, Meta M. (Schloe); sons: Jack, and Gerald P. (Cathy); daughters: Kathrine (Gerald) Wilson, and Maren (John) Pfuhl; stepson, Richard P. (Madalene) Kemp; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Inurnment in Oneota Cemetery.
