John A. Ridgway, one of the best known citizens of Sullivan county. died Friday. January 3'rd, at his home about six miles southwest of Carlisle after suffering some time with dropsy. The deceased was the son of the late William T. and Julia Ridgway, and was born in this county October 17, 1854, being at the time of his death 57 years, 2 months, and 18 days of age. Deceased was twice married his first wife being Helen Gibbs, who preceded him to the great beyond. His second wife Mariah Reed, who with six children with his first marriage survive him. The surviving children are Ara, Irvin, Clint, Wade, and Silva Ridgway, and Mrs. Faye Reel.
The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at Morris Chapel and was conducted by George Wolfe of Oaktown. Internment in the cemetery and adjoining.
