"Noah Baxter, age 96, of Wabaunsee died early Wednesday at Wamego Hospital after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Baxter was born August 17, 1844, in Indiana. He enlisted in the Union Army of the Civil War when only 16 years old and served for three years. He married Emma Robinson in 1872, and she died in 1923. He came to Wamego in 1880 and worked on a ranch for several years and in the Wamego Mill. He moved to this county in 1903 and was employed at the Sherman Mertz ranch."
