Jovita Martinez, 99, went home to be with Our Lord on June 6, 2018, Surrounded by her children, and well cared for by Encompass Hospice and Armour Oaks Senior Living Facility. Born on August 23, 1918 in Leon, GTO, MX., Jovita moved to Holiday, KS, at an early age with her family, where she met her beloved husband, Carlos. Becoming a young widow at age 33 with four children, Jovita worked many jobs to support her family, retiring from C.S.C. Credit Bureu. She was a member of the Free Bees Quilting Club at OLHP Redemptorist Church, and an active member of Sacred Heart Guadalupe Parish for many years. She is Preceded in death by her parents, Eligio and Gregoria Hernandez; husband, Carlos Martinez; brothers, Mariono, Nick, Joe, Alex, and Manuel (Angie); sisters, Linda (Fidencio) Hernandez, Mary (Paul) Rojas; and daughter, Marylou Aguilar. Survivors include sister, Virginia Martinez, of Raytown; three children, Joe (Josie) Martinez of Olathe, Maria de Jesus Rogers of California, and Virginia Martinez (Don) Crowe of Kansas City, 16 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 34 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. May she rest in peace and never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Guadalupe Church, 2544 Madison on Tuesday, June 12, 2018; Viewing at 10am, Mass of Christian Burial 11am, and burial following directly afterward at Mt.
