Vernon was critically injured Thursday, March 19, when ran over by an automobile. Vernon, riding a bicycle home for lunch, was struck at the corner of the campus, the wheel of the car passing over his chest. He was rushed to the Graham sanitarium in Cisco for treatment and died at 5:40 p.m.
Robert was born August 25, 1929, at Lubbock and came to Albany with his parents in October 1940. He was in the 8th grade in school. Members of the 7th and 8th grade and their teachers attended the funeral in a body.
