Born in Stettin, Pommerania, Germany to Carl and Augusta (Reamer) Kroll. When she was 9 years old came to the US with her parents to a farm in Ward Township, Todd Co., MN. Here she grew to womanhood and in her young she attended church instruction in St. Cloud and the trip to that city in those pioneer days had to be made by team. On Oct. 6, 1876 she married Frederick Abeling of this village. They established their home in this village which was to continue to be her residence for the next three quarters of a century. Five children were born to them, two of which , a daughter in infancy, and a son, Frank, at the age of 12 preceded mother and father in death. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid and Mission Auxiliary.
