Ben O. Biddy, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Altus, Okla.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Stratford Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Masonic Lodge No. 1009 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Mr. Biddy was born Nov. 3, 1911, in Blair, Okla. He was the first of four children born to Dora and Albert Biddy. Ben and his family moved to Stratford in April of 1942. Ben worked on the ranch of WF Wigginton for a few years and then worked for King Equipment, where he retired at the age of 65. After the death of his first wife, Virgie Isham Biddy, Ben married Opal Collins Biddy. Ben was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the 1009 Masonic Lodge of Dumas for more than 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; a brother, Ray Biddy; two sisters, Oleta Hall and Frances Vann; and two sons, Benny Ray Biddy and Bruce Allen Biddy.
Survivors include a son, Glen O. Biddy and wife, Cleta, of Altus; a daughter, Idell Culberson and husband, Gayle, of Karvel, Colo.; three grandsons, Barry Biddy, Steve Biddy and Bryan Biddy; five granddaughters, Connie Barnes, Tammy Beaty, Connie Biddy, Kari Byrne and Charlotte Hardcastle; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, which include George Harding of Stratford, JoWayne Summerour and Lori Funk of Dalhart; and numerous friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
