Julius Thomas Fuqua, 99 years old, passed away Monday, July 22, 2002, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was a Cherokee County native and had lived in Piedmont most of his life. He was retired from SCT Yarn after 45 years of service and had lived in Fort Walton Beach for three years. Mr. Fuqua was a member of Fort Walton Beach First Baptist Church and a former member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Piedmont, where he was also a member of the adult choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Fuqua; a daughter, Frances Barnes and a son, Joe Van Fuqua. He was survived by a daughter, Dianna Campbell of Kingswood, Texas; a son, Monty Fuqua of Fort Walton Beach; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Fuqua were held at Piedmont Memory Gardens with Thompson Funeral Home in charge.
