MIDLAND, Texas -- Robert C. "Bob" Fix, 74, of Midland, Texas, formerly of Columbus, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at a hospital in Midland.

Memorial services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven North Mausoleum in Midland.

Mr. Fix was born May 21, 1925, in Columbus to Benjamin Franklin and Berta (Hembd) Fix. He attended school in Columbus. Following graduation, he attended the University of Maryland. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving in the Atlantic Ocean on a destroyer as a radar man. He was discharged from the Navy in 1950. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed all over the world, and his duty was air traffic and ground control.

He married Agnes Fix in 1944, and later he married Ruth Groger in Florida in 1961. Following his discharge, he lived in several states, including California where he was employed with General Telephone Co. He also was employed with ITT overseas before moving to Midland in 1974. While living in Midland, he was employed with Southwestern Bell, retiring in the early 1980s. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a son, David of Midland; two daughters, Carolyn Fehringer of Lincoln and Debra Brunken of Shelby; six grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1982; a daughter, Dena; five brothers; and two sisters.
