AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The former operator of an insurance business in Amsterdam, Smith W. Brumley Jr., of 106 Division St., Amsterdam, died at St. Mary's Hospital. He was engaged in the insurance business for over 25 years, having been a partner with the late James T. Bergen. More recently, he conducted the Mohawk Antique and Curio Shop at Tribes Hill. A former member of the old Company H of the national guard, he saw action at the Mexican border, and also served as a deputy under the late sheriff Edward Jackson.

Spouse - Hazel Ryder Brumley.
Parents - Smith W. Brumley Sr. and Eva Deal Brumley.
Daughters - Mrs. Charles Johnson of Tribes Hill and Mrs. John Mitchell of Rockford, Ill.
Sons - Roy, Robert, and Richard Brumley, all of Amsterdam.
