Genita Nall Peavler, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018, in Marietta, Okla., surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, at Provence Assembly of God with Pastor Gary Gunsolus and Brother HH Davis officiating. Interment to follow in Wilson Creek Cemetery.
Genita was born in Wilson, Okla., on May 15, 1926, to Leonard Robinson and Nona (Chisum) Robinson. She attended Smyrna Schools. Although she had to leave in the eighth grade to care for her mother, she went on to earn her GED and then to nursing school. She began working as a nurse and cared for her Grandfather Nall. She went onto other careers while she was a homemaker caring for her four daughters. Genita worked for Carriage Lines, lacing billfolds and purses in Ardmore, Okla., working with leather, and then worked for Geological Enterprises. She loved working in her flower garden and being outdoors where she would fish and go deer hunting. Anytime she could, she loved to go to bluegrass festivals in the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, CL Nall, an infant son, Johnny Wayne Nall, two brothers: Wayne and Gene, sister, Gerri, and sister-in-law, Charlene Nall.
Genita is survived by four daughters: Brenda O’Neal of Ardmore, and Reba Gatewood, Jowana Johnston, and Darla Boydston, all of Florida. Grandchildren: Darrell Wayne Byers, Neal Cavner, Paula Tucker, Kimberly Davenport, Curtis Peoples Jr., Christy Motes, Chad Boydston, and Cody Boydston. Thirteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Hix of Oregon and Charlene Holliman of Ardmore, and special friend and caregiver of many years, Carol Steudeman.
Pallbearers will be Charles Shockley, Curtis Peoples Jr., Landon Davenport, George Davenport, Tyler Peoples, Chad Boydston, Neal Cavner and Jeff Tucker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Peoples Sr., Lewie O’Neal, Larry Cavner, Buddy Boydston, Dan Gatewood and Darrell Wayne Byers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, June 7, 2018 at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
