Death of Mrs. Jno. M. Belk
A letter received by Mr. John A. Cook, dated Flint, Texas, Dec 12, 1903, announces the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Belk, wife of Capt. John M. Belk, formerly of Taxahaw in this county, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.N. Clyburn at Flint, Texas early that morning. Capt. and Mrs. Belk left here only about two weeks ago to reside with their daughter. Mrs. Belk for the past few years had been a great sufferer from cancer and it was this which caused her death. She was in her 74th year, having been born, July 4, 1830. Besides her husband, and her daughter, Mrs. Clyburn, leaves three sons surviving her, viz; J.J.T. Belk, W.R. Belk, and J.L. Belk, of the Taxahaw section. She was a member of the Baptist hutch for years and was a good Christian woman. His friends in this county will feel the deepest sympathy for the aged husband in his sore bereavement.
