Daniel "Dan" Andrew Herron, age 71, passed away Sunday June 3, 2018 at Athens Place.

He was a native of Louisa County Virginia, and a long time resident of McMinn County.

He was the son of the late Emil Matthew Herron and Audrey Evelyn Winkler Herron. He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Looney Herron; Three brothers; Tira, Hazen and Michael Herron.

Dan was a Christian and a great man who loved many and walked humbly with his God. He was a loving husband, great father and grandfather. He enjoyed working with the youth of his church and community. He was in ministry for Christ to all he met and lived as he was led by the Holy Spirit. Dan retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 39 years, and was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters and a son in law;
Laura Beth Herron, of Athens;
TSgt Virginia "Ginni" and Michael East, of Phoenix, AZ;
Two sons and a daughter in law;
WO2 Paul D Herron, of Manhattan, KS;
Rev. Jake & Laura Herron, Apison, TN,
Brother and Sister in law; Jeff & Rosanne Herron of Tampa, FL.
Sisters: Patricia Woodford of Brandon, FL; Nancy Patrick of Tampa, FL;
and Cora Raine, of CT,
Grandchildren: Jacob and Ryan East, Gracelyn, Landon and Braden Herron
His mother-in-law; Minnie Looney Burton of Cornelia, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday, June 8, 2018, at Allen Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Charla Sherbakoff officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. A Graveside service will be 11 AM Saturday June 9, 2018, in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery in Louisa, VA. Pallbearers will be Tim Sharp, Rick Skidmore, Lee Sherbakoff, Steven Biatowas, Tom Huth and Alan Alsobrook.

The Family will receive friends from 4 till 7 pm Thursday at Smith Funeral Home.

Flowers can be sent to the funeral home, or memorials can be made in Dan's name to the Allen Memorial United Methodist Church Youth Group, 800 Decatur Pike, Athens, TN 37303.
