December 19, 2017, Claudia Ann Jaquette lost her short and futile fight with appendiceal cancer.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend she passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born Claudia Ann Biley, October 31, 1946, in Huntington Beach, CA, to Vern and DeVona Biley; one of seven children, five girls and two boys.

The family moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, when she was in junior high and she went on to graduate from Grants Pass High in 1964. Here she met the man that was to be her husband of 52 years, Bob Jaquette. They were to have three children, Barbara, Robert Carey and Dustin John Thomas. These would in turn give their parents eight grandchildren.

Claudia was a private person and had but one true passion in her life, her family. Though her family was scattered from Oregon to Texas, she was the rock that held them together. She was the one that saw to it that grandchildren knew and visited their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins or any other family member. She was always planning a trip to visit or to gather grandchildren to take them to visit their relatives. In the midst of planning a rather complicated and expensive trip to gather up her grandchildren, she was to inform her husband that it was "only money, it comes and it goes". Claudia chose to stay at home to be the mother of her children through their school years. In the lean years, making do with a single family income, she would mix powdered milk with bottled milk to make it last. She would not shop for herself but her children had great Christmases and braces for their teeth.

Children out of the house, Claudia went back to school to earn her R.N. degree; she worked in the office of Dr. James Wiess for eight years. When Dr. Wiess retired she gave up nursing and became a volunteer at Hucrest grade school in Roseburg. She volunteered there until her husband retired from a 30 year career at Roseburg Lumber.

Claudia faced her death with the same courage and dignity that she lived. Her final requests were "keep the family together'', “pray for me", “take care of my dogs" and "go on with your life".

As per Claudia's wishes there was not a service. She did not want people feeling sad and shedding tears. Again, as per her wishes, there will be a simple celebration of life for family and friends at the Jaquette family home in Roseburg, on June 16, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
