BEVERIDGE, Georgia Louise (McCabe)
November 4, 1908-June 1, 2012
Born in Mountainburg, and raised in Van Buren and Fort Smith, Arkansas, Louise passed away on June 1, 2012 in her 104th year. Her husband, Bill Beveridge, former goaltender of the early Ottawa Senators, predeceased her in 1995. Loving mother to Judith Ann, Bill (Bonnie) and Gini (late Dick Vyfvinkel). She will be deeply missed by her daughter-in-law Bonnie, who was her companion and confidante in her later years. Cherished grandmother to Bill and Jordan. Also survived by grandchildren, Mark (Stephanie), Paul (Louise), Peter (Ellen), and five great grandchildren. Louise graduated from Northwestern University with Degrees in Arts, Special Education and added a degree in Library Science at the University of Ottawa when she was 52 years old. She met the love of her life, Bill, in St. Louis, while he was playing in the NHL and they were married for 59 years. Her teaching career in St. Louis, Champaign, Ottawa and Toronto gave her immense pleasure. She enjoyed and was active as a member and Past Matron of Success Chapter #30 and also Past District Deputy Grand Matron of O.E.S. and regularly attended meetings until her health started to fail. Our heartfelt thanks go to all the members of the Eastern Star who have been so kind to Louise. A special thank you to Marlene and George Clauson, June Cousins for their friendship and also the staff at Lynwood Retirement Residence for their tender care and compassion. The past three years Louise has been a resident at Granite Ridge whose staff also gave her extraordinary care and comfort. Louise was a true Southern Belle who will be missed by all who loved her. In lieu of flowers, Louise's favourite charity was The Eastern Star Scholarship fund.
