Georgianna Washington Gilbert was born in Gettysburg. Her parents were Samuel Gilbert and Anna Maria Welsh. She married Thaddeus Stevens Slentz 22 October 1858 in Gettysburg. They moved to Washington DC after the Civil War. She had 5 children. She died of cancer of the uterus at 20 D Street, NW, Washington DC. Her body was shipped to Gettysburg via the B&P RR and she was buried at Evergreen Cemetery. The memorial stone was probably provided by her brother in law, Jacob L. Slentz.
