Annie Belle Strawn

Annie Strawn, 75, of Albany passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday at her home.
Annie was born in Mounds Creek, Okla., to Ernest and Annie Belle Alspaw and moved to Bakersfield, Calif., at the age of 3. She married Louis Strawn Jr. in 1953 in Bakersfield and moved to Albany in 1961.
The family writes: “It is difficult to try to sum up the life of such a special lady in a couple of sentences. She loved Jesus and her church. She loved her children and their children as well. She was a woman who knew what she thought and felt and never hesitated to express her opinions. We will miss her more than our words can express; however, we are ecstatic and positive that she is where her heart has longed to be since dad left to his rest in 2002. She is resting where pain and heartache do not exist and pure joy will be hers forever more.”
Annie was a member of the Old Time Religion Tabernacle of Lebanon, United Pentecostal Church of Albany and United Pentecostal Church of Corvallis.
Annie was a baker for Westbrook’s Restaurant and Darrell’s Restaurant, and a prep cook at Elmer’s Restaurant for several years. She retired from there. One of the special times in her life was when she, her husband and youngest son Bryan traveled by car across the United States and ended up in Maine to have lobster. Great stories were shared about that trip.
Special thanks to Mikeal from his three siblings for all the care and time he gave to Annie over the past few years. They are all very grateful and know that she was as well for him!
She is survived by children Patty Wink and husband Leo of Lebanon, Louie Strawn and wife Carrie of Lebanon, Mikeal Strawn of Albany, and Bryan Strawn and wife Audrey of Sweet Home; brothers Buck, Darrel, John and Duane Alspaw of Bakersfield, and Danny Alspaw of Arkansas; sisters Doris Peavler of Rockwall, Texas, Dolores Palmer of Cozad, Neb., Darlene Butler and Dian Watkins of Bakersfield; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and best friends Brother and Sister Whitsitt.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother John, and sisters Doris and Doretha.
