Charles served during World War II in the US Navy SeaBees on a survey crew that surveyed airstrips on islands in the South Pacific. After World War II he attended Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches, Texas.
He was a Pipefitter with the Local Union #195 and was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church. He liked the outdoors, fishing, woodworking, reading, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Rozene Nagle and was survived by his son Larry Nagle and his daughter Judy Whitman and her husband Ronnie, grandchildren Gretchen Guseman and her husband Sam, Nathan Whitman and his wife Adrienne, Lori Smith, Chris Nagel and his wife Taryn and five great-grandchildren.
