A memorial service for Marion Thomas Clizbe, a 50-year Bellingham resident, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Birchwood Avenue.

Mr. Clizbe died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Bellingham. He was 89.

Born Nov. 20, 1910, to Simon E. and Clara A. Baker Clizbe in McKenzie, N.D., he married Arleen G. Eerkes on June 2, 1939, in Mount Vernon.

A heavy-construction carpenter for 50 years, he worked on dams and bridges in Whatcom and Skagit counties and on other projects in Washington and other states.

Mr. Clizbe was a 50-year member of Local No. 756 Carpenters and Joiners union. Baptized in 1969, he was an active Jehovah's Witness.

He was an accomplished wine maker and also enjoyed tending his yard, caring for birds and building birdhouses for his home and for others.

A grandson, Roger Troutner, died in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, of Bellingham son Thomas Clizbe of Ferndale daughters Carol Troutner of Ferndale, Susan Sherron of Bellingham and Nora Bays of Gretna, Va. brothers Willis Clizbe of Mount Vernon and Byron Clizbe of Fremont, Calif. 18 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren eight stepgrandchildren eight stepgreat-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to World-Wide Work, Jehovah's Witnesses, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
