Marion Anderson was born April 30,1921 to Ragnhild and Oscar Anderson on her grandparents homestead farm in Dalbo Township,Isanti County, Mn. She grew up on her father's parental farm in Karmel, Wyanett Township, Isanti County Mn. She attended Karmel country school and was confirmed at Karmel Covenant Church in 1934. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1938. She worked as a nurse's aide at the State Colony of Epileptics in Cambridge. She married Burton Anderson on July 12,1941 and they went to Washington DC. where she worked at the Bureau of Aeronautics. When Burton found work in Chicago, Illinois she transferred to Chicago and worked for the Inspector of Naval Material. Burt went into the service in 1942. In 1944, she joined Burt in Texas before he was shipped out.. She went back to Minnesota and was a stay-at-home mother until her children, Richard and Brenda started school. Burt was a millwright and worked in many different places. Marion also worked at many different places including the Mn Department of Health, Anoka State Hospital, Hastings State Hospital and finally retiring from Hastings Veterans Home as Administrative Secretary in 1980. After retiring, she volunteered at the Kanabec History Center which was requesting readers to go through the county newspapers and record all the births, deaths and marriages. Marion did this from 1981 to 2005. It was so interesting that she thought maybe someone else would like to hear this history. With help from Citizens State Bank of Ogilvie , American Legion they were able to publish the first book "Ogilvie, Under the Shadow of the Tower". Twenty years later she wrote an update called "Ogilvie, Past and Present." She had been clerk for Ann Lake Township and so wrote a booklet on Ann Lake Township and Ann Lake. She was a life member of the Ann Lake Sportsman's Club (now Ann Lake Watershed Alliance) so she wrote a booklet on the history of the Ann Lake Sportsman's Club. Her husband Burton, passed away on September 7,1991. Marion passed away December 21, 2014 at First Light Health System in Mora, Minnesota surrounded by her family. She is survived by her two children, Richard(Joyce) and Brenda, two grandchildren, two great-grandsons her sister Dorothy Hume and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Hazel Anderson and Ethel Ratfield. Internment at Graceland Cemetery, Ogilvie, Minnesota.
