Margaret or "Peggy" was the only child of Frederick Yaryan and his first wife, Mary Ann Niece.
She married on November 15, 1821, Union County, Indiana, to John Burk.
They appear with 3 children in the 1850 census of Boston Township, Wayne County, Indiana. They appear alone in the same township in 1860 and 1870.
A Mr. Mitchell recalled Margaret in this way: "I have yet at the age of 86, as this is written, a very vivid remembrance of Aunt Peggy Burk. She kept house for my father after his wife died, when we were children. My sister Ida and I were small. She gave me the first spanking that I can remember. I was about 4 years old and had committed some childish deviltry, which offended her. She warmed the spot Nature prepared for such purposes very efficiently. It burnt for sometime after."
