A.E. Cloar, age 95 of Paris, TN, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, TN.

He retired after 30 years with the Hart County Board of Education in Kentucky, where he served as a teacher and a guidance counselor. He also spent many years in farming. A.E. served in the United States Marine Corps during the World War II era. He was a member of the Hart County Retired Teachers Association and the Kentucky Agriculture Teachers Association. He was active for many years in the Munfordville Lions Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris.

A.E. was born August 7, 1922, in Paris, TN, to the late Troy Clement Cloar and the late Annie Smith Cloar.

He was married November 16, 1946, to Jean Walker Cloar, who survives, of Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Jim (Bonnie) Cloar of Paris, TN, and Steve (Ruth) Cloar of Paris, TN; one sister, Sarah Cloar of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Alan (Cheryl) Cloar, Jennifer Cloar, Shane (Melissa) Cloar, Alicia Stewart, Justin (Paige) Thompson; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Swor, Belle Cloar, and Nina Rankin; and four brothers, Thedron Cloar, Max Cloar, Paul Cloar, and Reese Cloar.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Tuesday June 5, 2018 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Joe Hansen and Alan “Jac” Cloar officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Cloar, Timothy Cloar, T.J. Johnson, Joseph Tibbs, Justin Thompson, Danny Matthews, Mark Tibbs, and Dwayne Thomas. Named as honorary pallbearers are Todd Rose, Rod Frey, Jim McCampbell, and Donald Barnes.

Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Paris, TN.
