Son of John Thompson and Frances Morse Calvert.
Spouse of Orlena Sigler.

Civil War veteran. According to records of his admission to the Kentucky Confederate Home in Pewee Valley and various other records, he served in the following Confederate units:
(1) Chrisman's Battalion Arkansas Cavalry;(2) Company K, 5th Kentucky Cavalry; and(3) Terry's Company, 1st (Kirkpatrick's) Battalion Kentucky Cavalry.The last two units were a part of the famous cavalry of Brig. Gen. John Hunt Morgan, "Morgan's Raiders." According to his original discharge certificate he was discharged from the army in 1864 for medical reasons.

He also had 2 more daughters-Flora Pauline-1870-1956 and Lula Ona-1872=1960.
