Billy Jack Cornwell, 80 years old, of Huntington, born April 26, 1938 in Wayne County, WV and passed away Thursday May 31, 2018 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Billy was preceded in death by his parents Elsie and Albert Cornwell; his brothers “Doug” Cornwell and James Cornwell and two sons John Edward Cornwell and Billy Joe Cornwell. Billy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Zyta M. Cornwell; one daughter Tammy M. Cornwell; one son Raymond Cornwell (Emily); two granddaughters Lindy K. McClellan (Jordan) and Sophie A. Cornwell; one brother Harold Cornwell and two sisters Virginia Jefferson and Joyce Dixon. Billy was retired from Huntington Plating. His granddaughters knew him as their beloved “Poppy”, they were the joy of his pride and joy. Billy and Zyta’s close friend, Earleen Akers, accompanied them through the course of his treatments the past few years. He thought of Earleen as their angel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow in Spurlock Cemetery, Wayne, WV. Friends may call from noon until service time on Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home.
