Robert (Bob), son of Homer Hubert and Laura Anne Winters Bailey, was born June 17, 1927 in Unionville, Missouri. Robert attended school in Centerville, Iowa after moving there with his parents as a young boy.

Robert served his country in the Army during World War II and again during the Korean War. He belonged to the American Legion Post #124 in Guthrie Center. On September 20, 1947 he married Ireta Verlene Houghton Myers. Bob and Verlene lived in California and Colorado for many years where he worked at heating and air conditioning. In 1975 they returned to Guthrie Center, Iowa. Having retired from the heating and air conditioning work. Bob did work for Nelson Pump and later worked in maintenance at the Country View Estates. In November 1995 Bob and Verlene moved to Centerville, Iowa and returned to reside in Perry, Iowa in December of 2009.

Bob enjoyed camping and fishing as well as talking on his CB Radio. He was a member of the U.S. XRay Club.

Robert (Bob) was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ireta Verlene, his parents, half sister, Ruth Fletcher of Colorado and brother, Paul of Centerville, Iowa. He leaves half sisters, Maxine Blaker of Anderson, Indiana, Charlotte Ochs of Deertrail, Colorado and sister-in-law, Clara Bailey of Centerville, Iowa, niece, Krista Brown (Jeff) of Moulton, Iowa and step nieces and nephews Starla Garcia (Emmet), Paul Sarver (Janet), Dennis Sarver (Kim) and families.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 23rd, at Union Cemetery located in Guthrie Center, Iowa.
