Louise (Ward) Brooks was born on November 3, 1917 in Old Hickory, Tennessee, the daughter of Henry Ward and Frances (Harris) Ward.
She graduated from Dupont High School in 1935 and later from Peabody College, before going to work as a school teacher at Dobson Chapel with the Nashville public schools. She was also a piano instructor working from her home and was the pianist at the Goodlettsville Southern Methodist Church.
Louise was married about 1945 to Oscar Dewey Brooks (1917-2006), who was Goodlettsville's first City Manager, and another part of Louise's work career was in her husband's clothing business, Brooks Men's Wear of Goodlettsville. And, at one time she was employed by the Gank of Goodlettsville.
Living in Goodlettsville, Louise was 100 years old when she passed away at home on May 29, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by her siblings James Ward, Goodloe Ward and Nancy (Ward) Allen. Survivors included three sons and two daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Celebration of Life Services were held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, and burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
