Burnie Vernice Adams followed Shirley, his wife of 62 years to his heavenly home on May 26, 2018 after a short illness. He was born on January 29, 1937 in Elm Springs, Arkansas and spent most of his life in Red Oak, OK. He and Shirley married on March 9, 1956 and raised three children together. Burnie worked for many years in the oilfield before starting with Arkla Gas and retired from Farrel Cooper Mining Company. After retirement, Burnie and Shirley worked with the Baptist Builders Association building churches and parsonages over a big part of the country and in to Mexico. Building was a passion and he built and remodeled many homes in the area. He was a member of the North Rock Creek Baptist Church. Burnie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Wilburn, his parents, Ben & Katherine Adams, brothers, Paul and E W Sockey and Jerry Adams, sisters, Wandalene Sockey and Geraldine Adams.Burnie was blessed with fourteen great grandchildren with more coming. Service will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00am at the North Rock Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow at North Rock Creek Cemetery, Rev. Tracy Martin will officiate.
