Rev. Benedict was the former Director of Baptist Student Union of Charleston (SC) and former Director of Financial Aid at Charleston Southern University (then Baptist College at Charleston). He graduated from Furman University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He was survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
