Verna died Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton.
Verna Lorinda Syverson was born June 15, 1910, on the family farm near Havana, ND, to Ole and Clara (Halvorson) Syverson. She grew up there, and attended rural Sargent County schools through the eighth grade. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After receiving her education, Verna worked as a housekeeper and also cooked for threshers during the harvest season.
On November 17, 1932, she married Harry E. Anderson at Lake City. They farmed in the Havana area until retiring from farming and moving into Havana in 1968. Harry died June 29, 1983. Verna continued to make her home in Havana until moving to Wheatcrest Hills in Britton in 1997, where she resided until the time of her own death.
Verna was active in church, first as a member of the Immanuel Lutheran congregation, and after that church closed, as a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Havana. At Trinity, she belonged to the Ladies Aide and the quilting group.
Survivors include two children, Harris L. (Karen) Anderson, Havana, ND, and Sharon (Rodney) Johnson, Wheaton, MN; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Cora Syverson, Britton, and Dorothy Syverson, Princeton, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, three sisters, and three brothers.
Casketbearers will be her grandchildren. Her honorary casketbearers will be her nieces and nephews, and all of her many friends.
